Program Structure of Online Video Website DVTV in 2015
Surovec, Ondřej ; Teplá, Jana (advisor) ; Zápotocký, Jan (referee)
The theme of online video and television is becoming an increasingly important social phenomenon. Recently, media have been making some big changes due to technological knowledge and convergence. DVTV is a new independent medium that has chosen a slightly different strategy and uses the new media and technologies to use interviewing as a form of introducing and explaining political and social phenomena and events. As a medium with limited redaction capacity, the gatekeeper function of DVTV is very crucial. In 2015, DVTV underwent some major changes. In this thesis, I'm looking at the period from January 1, 2015 to December 30 of the same year, and mapping it by using quantitative content analysis. I am focusing on the content composition of this online video portal and mapping the interviews that are the main product of this recently established media. The analysis of this medium is intended to help us understand the significance and scope of this independent web portal (only commercially cooperating with the Publishing house Economia) on the Czech media scene and how the composition of the program has changed or not changed during the year.
A Comparative Analysis of Language Tools of the Hosts of the DVTV Journalistic Videochannel
Hromková, Kristýna ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Němcová Tejkalová, Alice (referee)
The aim of this work is to analyse the use of language tools of hosts of the DVTV journalistic videochannel. It addresses mainly deflections from the use of standard language, to be more specific, the use of colloquial and literary terms. It also focuses on expressive words, slang, neologisms and on expressions created within the journalistic environment, the so called publicisms. The thesis includes the description of other language phenomena specific for each host - Daniela Drtinová, Martin Veselovský and Filip Horký. The analysis also deals with figurative expressions and phrases in the speech of all hosts. To a limited extent, it focuses on the acoustic side of language, mainly on wrong pronunciation and the pace of speech of the hosts. The work contains a chapter on the theory of speech acts, which was developed by a British philosopher John Langshaw Austin. Within this matter, it focuses mainly on the occurrence of illocutionary and perlocutionary acts in the interviews. In the cases of Drtinová and Veselovský the interviews are divided into four categories: interviews with politician, specialist, artist and sportsman. Each category is specific in the use of language tools. In case of Horký, due to the limited amount, the interviews are analysed all together.
Interview as a communication principle of DVTV
Kadlecová, Kateřina ; Štoll, Martin (advisor) ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee)
The bachelor thesis examines the journalistic project DVTV. Particularly, it focuses on its main media product - an audiovisual interview. The thesis puts the project within the broader framework in the relationship to the principles of internet publishing, such as disconnection of time or creation of new virtual genres. It analyzes the audiovisual interview as an attractive format and mentions the expressions of media convergence in the online media environment. The thesis also highlights the growing popularity and production of online video content, especially on the example of Aktualne.TV, Seznam Zpravy or Stream.cz. By the means of interviews with the creators of DVTV the thesis describes in detail the activities of their team, how an interview is made, beginning with the choice of respondents to the postproduction and final publication of the video. The thesis construes the footage of the DVTV interviews, recording techniques, its communication via social media and other aspects. In addition to the interviews, the thesis does not omit other media formats, that can be found in the DVTV portfolio, eg. live streaming of the events, and it also focuses on the future of this project.
Vlogs as part of journalism
Klíma, Štěpán ; Láb, Filip (advisor) ; Géla, František (referee)
The thesis focuses on the increasing use of video format in journalism, particularly in blogosphere. In the first part, I have looked at the historical context of interpersonal communication and tried to find a link between a society where people communicated orally only and between the contemporary one. I have subsequently extended the historical aspects with the psychological level of communication. I have sought to find out how visual communication, even when mediated through video, affects us and how different it can be compared to communication through text. In the second part of my thesis I verified my theoretical findings in practice through a case study. During several interviews with DVTV Internet television channel makers and a visit at the studio I was finding out how the content is prepared and what technical solutions they use for it. I was particularly interested in the progress that has been made from the time first episodes were created until the current form.
communication strategy of newly started media projects
Černá, Michaela ; Jirák, Jan (advisor) ; Trampota, Tomáš (referee)
This paper focuses on three new Czech media projects founded in 2014: news web Echo24.cz, a monthly Reporter magazin and a video portal DVTV. More specifically, it describes their creation, which took place as a consequence of the changes in the media market in the Czech Republic in the years 2013-2014. These were mainly changes in ownership structure as Andrej Babis acquired the publishing house Mafra and changes brought about by the crisis of the Czech Television channel. This paper maps out the establishment of new media projects and their positioning in an already competitive environment by observing the communication strategy of these projects. On the basis of predefined criteria it analyses the initial launch campaigns, the means used for marketing and the communication with the public during the first year after the projects were launched. This analysis is complemented by interviews with the authors of the projects: Dalibor Balsinek (Echo24.cz), Robert Casensky (Reporter magazin) and Jan Rozkosny (DVTV). On the basis of this analysis a comparison of the projects and their communication strategies is carried out. The obtained results can be useful in further research of the evolution of these media projects.
